 When I saw this moon face sign at Liz Marie Galvan site I tried to buy it but it was sold out at the time. So I made one myself and love it.

Heat Transfer Vinyl Socks And The Cricut Easy Press

My first try at heat pressing went great.  And the best part is that I didn't have to buy a huge heat press to do it.  No, I bought a Cricut Easy Press and I love it!  Look what it can do.

It costs about the same as a cheap heat press but it is smaller so it is easier to store away.  It has a timer and thermostat setting no mistakes from a too hot or too cool iron.  It was a good compromise between a too bulky heat press and an unreliable home iron.  There are some good tutorials out there if you want to check them out.

I will be trying some other projects with it as soon as I find the time......maybe more socks and a few tee shirts.

Looks like a simple project doesn't it?  Not so much.

 Well it actually was a simple project, I must have walked under an ladder or crossed paths with a black cat cuz it took me multiple tries to get this right.  And we won't even talk about the other project I really messed up........  And yes I do get the irony of the above wall hanging sentiment........

 First started with a vinyl stencil cut on my silhouette that I totally put on the wood crooked.   Didn't figure that out til after I stenciled all the words.  So repainted cream over the entire thing and decided to give myself a day to figure out how to do it better.  Today I redid the silhouette file and tried to cut new vinyl and it would not cut for the life of me.  Not the first cut or the 6th, 7th or 8th cut.  That's a lot of vinyl to waste.  Put in a call to the hot line,  Got some good advice.....none of it worked.   So I cut out cardstock stencils instead (silhouette would cut paper, just not the vinyl......go figure),  It was much messier to do it this way since the paper isn't adhesive like the vinyl but it worked!  After I finished the Today sign I did a little Farmhouse one.  

We are slowly redecorating our bedroom to match the master bath we remodeled last year.  New paint and some new items (like the bird cage light) brighten up the room.  We have new carpet on order too.  A few other rooms are getting facelifts so we are really staying busy around here.  Stay tuned for more updates.

Tried my hand at non chemical screen printing and loved the results!

So this saying has been my mantra for a while now.  And now that the hubby has retired I am thinking my online shopping is really going to suffer......

Mirror Makeover For Christmas

Wanted to dress up our mantel mirror for Christmas with a little vinyl.

Used a Silhouette file from the Silhouette store.  Added a few extra stars.  Super simple but in keeping with my desire to keep Christ as the center of  Christmas.

WiFi Password For Guests

Do you know you can change you WiFi password from that ridiculously long string of numbers?  I googled it and followed the instructions and then......lost all access to the internet.  Called my provider and found out you also need to delete and then re establish your internet connection.  WITH ALL YOUR DEVICES.  Not hard once I knew how.  Then my printer wouldn't work.  Same deal.  Reconnect.  I think I am all set now.......  Back to the reason I changed my password.  When we have guests it is annoying to have to give them that old password.  So now I have a cute little framed Welcome and WiFi info picture in the guest room for them.

So much easier for them now. 

Got the frame at Walmart and printed the info.

I think it is a cute way to make my guest feel welcome.

Santa Bag Using My Silhouette

Been spending a lot of quality time with my Silhouette lately.  Today's project is a Santa bag for a young family at our church.

 I used heat transfer flocked vinyl from Silhouette and a cutting file from Fynes Designs.  She also has directions for a bag!  However, I used my own pattern because I wanted my bag to have a round bottom.

The file took forever to cut.  I used double cut and blade set at 4 which seemed to work well for this material and file.

Using my iron worked but it was more time consuming.  I did have a 12x12 tile under the fabric to help increase the heat from the back of the design too.

  

My bag is tied with a ribbon and is stuffed with a few goodies for there family.  Can't wait to give it to them.

Update on Dr Who Tardis Ornaments

Had so much trouble getting the vinyl to lay smooth against the glass ornament.  Found out if you hit it with a blow dryer or heat gun the vinyl magically flattens and is totally smooth!  So cool.

Wintery Deer Pillow

I have been seeing Heat Transfer Vinyl projects all over the net and finally got enough courage to try one myself.  I don't have a heat press (hint, hint, Christmas is coming!) so I had to use an iron.  Apparently you shouldn't use a sheet of glass as a base....... crack!  But other than that small problem it wasn't so hard.

 I used a Silhouette file for the deer image and pretty blue flocked vinyl.  The silhouette cut it out like butter even though it was very intricate.  Then I used my iron at the hottest setting (less than 300 degrees).  I also used a Teflon sheet between the iron and vinyl.  Less than 1 minute of heavy pressure and the vinyl was stuck.  I am not sure if this pillow would stand up to a washing machine but since it is a pillow not a pillow cover it should not ever see the inside of a washer.

Here is a closer view.  This pillow is going to my youngest daughter who uses a lot of blues and grays in her decor.  Hope she likes it.

Thanksgiving Place Cards for Silhouette

Want a free and easy printable set of place cards for your Thanksgiving table?

Here is a cutting file for your Silhouette that combines printing the card and overlaying a pretty fall leaf.  Or you can just print the entire thing.  (just be sure to select "No cut" on the leaf image)  You can also edit the name or stick with the "Be Grateful" sentiment.  The choice is yours.

The black lines do not appear in the download, I just added them to the image to make it easier to see so you could actually see the cutting lines.  The cards fold into a tent with the leaf sticking out the top.

Kitchenaid Vinyl Decals-Make Your Own!

I have been eyeing some cute Kitchenaid vinyls for quite a while now.  I needed to wait until my dear husband changed the grease (icky job, let me tell you) before I put some on.  Because I have a silhouette there was no question that I would make mine own.....After seeing this cute one (which you can buy if you don't have a cutting machine, or just don't want to go to the trouble of making a file yourself) I got to work.

 Easy peasy.

 Looks so cute.

Turns my plan Jane mixer into a sweet little thing.  And I can change it out for something else later on!  Love a simple project to brighten a cloudy day!

Easter Candy Wraps

Oh what to get my kids at church for Easter........chocolate of course!

I started with Hershey solid chocolate bunnies that come six in a package. 

 Once they were wrapped in some cute spring floral paper I attached a label I downloaded from the Silhouette store.

Easy Push Up Easter Treats

 I needed a treat to take to church for Easter that was quick and easy, and did I mention it had to be yummy too!  I didn't want to bake cookies, cupcakes or make chocolate candies either.  Call me lazy but I had a lesson to prepare and a few other things to get done, so I didn't have a ton of time to devote to this.

 Thank goodness I had hoarded stocked up on push up containers......
