Easter Pail

Grace-Marie gave out these cute little Easter Pails to the ladies at church today and I wanted to post them so you all could see how clever they were. Did I mention they are filled with candy including a Cadsbury egg! Nummy! The pails are from the dollar store in the wedding isle. The bunnies are cupcake picks and there are foam cutouts around the pails. So sweet! Diana

Antique Music Sheet

No it is not a true antique but it does look like it is. The bird surround and the sheet music are available online through two different sources. I fussy cut the surround to lay over the music sheet on which I stamped a cool european building. The banner is computer generated. Every thing is heavily inked and the layers are popped with foam tape. Diana

Another Version of Jenn's Wreath

Inspired by Jenn's adorable paper egg wreath, I decided to try and make one myself. First, let me say that this is a very messy project. Mod podge and moss got every where. And the paper is difficult to form smoothly to the plastic eggs. But I am happy with the finished wreath even if it isn't as cool an Jenn's. I didn't have the patience or skill to make nearly as many eggs as Jenn so I went for this look instead. I covered a form in sheet and loss moss, attached the eggs (24 of them) and then wrapped hemp cord around the whole thing.

Here is a close up of the eggs. I used pages from a murder mystery so I hope there is nothing sinister on any of the eggs!

This is how I decided to display my new wreath in the dining room. Now I need to take down all the winter decor and trade over to spring! But the forecast of snow tomorrow has me a little bummed! I had hoped we were through with all that! Diana

Wreath

I ended up home with a sick kiddo all day today. Luckily I had gone to the store yesterday and bought the items I needed for this beautiful wreath idea at http://www.tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com/

Mine is a little different, I used bigger eggs. It took A LOT, so be forewarned, but it was definately worth all of the effort.

Last Visiting Teaching Gift

This one is really easy. A little teacup and saucer with a cupcake slipped in! And the cupcake is from the bakery so no work involved here! Yummy! Diana

Just A Few More

Still coming up with ideas for the RS class on cheap and easy gifts. This one is both. This is an example of more glass etching. Take a throw away vase from the florist and etch some cute little bunnies chasing each other around the center. No need to worry about exact spacing cuz bunnies don't care!

Easter Jar

It should have been easy. Just glass etch a bunny on a jar and throw in some candy...what could be easier? A little ribbon on the lid and a cute little fuzzy chick.....so sweet and simple. Til it came time to put the candy in that is. Did I mention this was to be the take home craft for the RS Birthday Party? A simple craft for all skill levels and budgets. Empty, the jar looks great so I go to put the candy in and guess what. The bunny disappears with any "busy" filler. Jelly beans....too busy, M&M's.....too busy. Trip to Walmart to find something to display in the jar for church tomorrow. Nothing looked right except maybe a jar full of sugar (not too busy but who gives someone a jar of sugar for a gift?). So I slipped a square of paper behind the bunny so at least you can see it!!!

From behind it looks kind of cute! But the whole project is about teaching how to glass etch! Any suggestions? I feel a headache coming on. Diana

More Visiting Teaching Gifts

Here are a few more samples of little gifts to make and give to our visiting teaching sisters (or really anyone) that will be displayed at saturdays RS Birthday Party. One criteria for the handouts were that they be very inexpensive. This little plastic heart is filled with mint chocolates. The stamp is so cool and the ink is permanent. Most inks just rub off of smooth surfaces.
I tied a bright ribbon around the heart to add a little more red and to tightly hold the lid in place.

These tins are from the dollar store! Cheap! I lined it with a little paper and then used it to hold these magnets I made from floral supply pebbles. Same idea, but a different image is mod podged on the back of the pebble. This one is definitely for Easter! There are eggs in a nest for the image. (see below for a slightly better picture) For this tin I mod podged E-A-S-T-E-R on the back of the pebbles and attached small magnets.

The tin has a clear lid. The magnets stick to the inside and can be arranged to spell a message.

A close up of the Easter egg image. It is like looking in a kaleidoscope because the image is distorted and reflects in a magical way. Love it!

I also did this HUGE sock cupcake! The socks are very thick and fluffy! This one really looks like frosting swirled on top. The pick is inserted in the folds of the cupcake.

It is difficult to see, but the paper wrapper is flocked and really looks lux in person. Can't wait for an excuse to give this to someone! Diana

So it being finals week and all, I am looking for any excuse not to do my empirical research term paper. YUCK!

March's Baptismal Gifts

One of the funnest parts of being in Primary is going to the eight year olds' baptisms and bringing little gifts for the children. Here are the ones for this month. I tried my hand at sock cupcakes. It took a little practice because the socks were small and thin. Not like the big fluffy ones I will show you on a later post. This one is using two little girl socks with a lace edge.
