P.S.

Have you seen these neat letter soap molds yet? I love monograms so I snapped these up quick. I used brown tinted white soap base with chocolate scent. How cute with these look in the quest bath! And after smelling these I am thinking that these molds would be great for real chocolate too! Diana

Summer Necklace

When I saw my mom's new necklace from a local department store, I knew I needed one like it. So off we went to Hobby Lobby to pick out some beads and chains.

It was surprisingly easy to make! Two types of chain, two types of beads, and a few odds and ends later and this is what we came up with. The rosette is a pin that I attached at where the beads all come together. Now I can change it out to a different color or add another if I feel like it.
Perfect for the summer uniform of jean shorts and a white tee.

Sweet Treats For Teachers

Our dear Primary (children Sunday school) teachers do so much service to the little ones at church.. This hardly seems thanks enough but I did want to give them a little appreciation gift. I cut these treat holders out with the Wedding cartridge on the cricut using the blackout function.
The sentiment is printed on the computer and cut out with a 1 1/4 inch punch. I punch out another circle and a scallop, each a little larger. Then a ribbon is simply knotted in the front.
These boxes are filled with Hersey kisses, just to sweeten their day! Diana

Spring Wreath

Doesn't this wreath look like spring? Too bad I still have a bit of snow on the ground outside! And it is made out of paper!!!! You have seen a lot of these paper flower decorated items lately but I wanted to try and make something for myself. I used a white Styrofoam wreath, a ton off pearl tipped pins, and zillions of pale green paper flowers.
I liked using the white wreath with the pale colored flowers because you don't notice the Styrofoam peaking through. I used light weight (typing paper) green paper in two shades. I also put a line of glue on the foam before pinning in the flowers. (I stuck a pin trough one of each of the two different color flowers). This project isn't difficult but does take a bit of time. One thing though, I didn't finish the back so I can't put in front of a mirror. The ugly back will be reflected and no longer hidden! Diana

CHOCOLATE BUNNIES!!!!

Chocolate bunnies? Not really, they just look like they are made of chocolate! I saw some at a store and knew I could make them. And here is the finished bunny. They look so yummy.

First I printed a pattern I found on the net and enlarged it. Then I cut it out about 1/2 inch outside the line. That became my cutting line. I cut two pieces out of muslin for each bunny.
Then I sewed 1/4 inch seam all around the outside, leaving an opening for turning at the bottom.
Cut slits at all the inside corners and use pinking shears (if you have them) to trim the seams. I then ironed them flat to set the seams.
Turn and stuff but not too firm. Be sure to get into all the curves and points. Slip stitch the opening closed.
Using brown craft paint, paint a nice thick coat all over the bunny.
Be sure and cover all the fabric. Let dry and give a second coat. Let dry and then tie a ribbon around the neck of the bunny.
I set my three bunnies in a basket in the dining room. Soooooo cute! These little guys go together quick. The biggest amount of time spent was waiting for the "chocolate" to dry! Diana

Scrubby

Handmade soap and a pretty scrubby for the bath......what luxury. I had made one of these before but I had to cut my netting myself. I didn't do a neat job cutting so the finished project was a little rough looking. Yesterday, while shopping at JoAnns I found rolls of netting that were just the right widths! And at $2.50 these scrubbies are inexpensive to make too! I crocheted this in just a few minutes. Using a large hook, chain 4 and form a loop. Chain 2 and then double crochet in the loop until you have a nice disk that lies flat with no distortions. For the next round chain 2 and then double crochet 3 times in each stitch. Single crochet in each stitch for one round. Now start decreasing by double crocheting every other stitch until you have about a one inch hole left. Now single crochet until hole is closed and tie off . Stuff any extra net into into the center and it's done. I know those instructions are a little casual but that is how I crochet! Diana

Peonies

I have a dear friend in South Korea whose American name is Peona. Before meeting her, I never knew anything about peonies. But since then I discovered I have a few in my yard and really love them. So when I saw a fimo mold in the shape of a peony, I snapped it up. To give them a little patina, I washed a bit of mustard colored paint over them.
I made a ring and pendant. These are the exact color of the flowers in my yard too! Diana
